A beautiful home reveals itself a little at a time. First comes the soft light in the entryway, then the curve of an arch, with laughter and the aroma of warm bread drifting from the next room. You want to step inside, settle into a favorite chair, and linger beside someone you love.
Wallpaper around an arched doorway can make that transition feel especially inviting. A flowing botanical print brings softness; a deep color or generous pattern creates a bolder, more intimate mood.
Decide where the pattern ends
Will the wallpaper cover only the flat wall, or continue into the recessed opening? A painted return draws attention to the architecture. Carrying the pattern inside makes the opening a feature of its own.
Before calculating materials, record the width and depth of the opening, the wall height above it, and the surrounding trim. Take photos from both rooms. The transition should feel considered from either direction.
Let the curve and pattern work together
Hold a sample beside the arch and look at it in morning and evening light. Stripes emphasize architectural lines, while a loose botanical design creates a different sense of movement. Consider the furniture and finishes in the adjoining room, too.
Ask your installer to explain the proposed strip layout and edge treatment for your exact wallcovering.

A thoughtfully finished arch connects rooms as naturally as the scent of dinner brings everyone to the table.
