Wallpaper and Artwork: Give Each One Room to Be Seen

Wallpaper and artwork can share a wall when their relationship is intentional. A detailed pattern behind a detailed painting may compete, while a simpler texture can create a different backdrop. Start with the artwork you plan to keep.
Test the composition
Hold the wallpaper sample beside the frame and view the combination from the usual distance. Consider how much patterned wall will remain around the artwork. You may prefer one larger piece instead of several small frames, but that is a design choice rather than a rule.
Prepare for hanging
Mark the planned locations of fixed wall hardware and discuss what must be removed before wallpaper installation. Keep the original product and care information for future adjustments. Send room photos and the artwork dimensions so the installer understands the visual area being planned.
